Snow Conditions No Avalanche Activity
We toured on east facing slopes in the vicinity of the Villard Glacier. We didn't see any signs of any avalanche problems in this terrain.
The most notable observation was how little melting had occurred on the slopes above 7200 ft. It was quite warm and most of the snow on the moraine features and below treeline was melting and softening during the day (true North seemed to be still holding cold snow). Once above the moraines we could feel a down slope wind that was transporting snow and keeping the snow surface cold. The ski conditions were variable.
