Written Report:
The wet problems from early in the week went away with cold temps in the mid 20's. 3" of new snow with moderate SW winds fell Tues Nt. This 3" was dust on crust in the trees and lower elevations. It laid in deeper at ridge tops with thin windslabs beginning to form. Initial shovel tilt tests on the windslab yielded very easy results, yet the slabs were only 3-4" thick and posed no hazard.

In a profile the wind slab was 1F hardness with Fist hardness snow as the weak layer. This jives with Aaron's pic of the shallow windslabs cracking from his skis.

New snow is in the forecast and I would be cautious of these WIND SLABS building on N-E slopes above treeline.
