Written Report:
Paul and I were walking along the ridge south of Three Finger Jack at 5800ft. We were 15-20 ft away from the edge of the cornice which appeared to be less than 6ft overhung. Our steps caused a 15-20 foot deep crack to propagate for over 100ft along the ridge. The wind packed debris travelled less than 100 ft down the hill into low angle trees but was strong enough to easily snap the trunks of at least two large ponderosa pine trunks. The collapse left a vertical 15-20 ft high snow cliff above the pile of debris.
Temperature: 32°C
Elevation: 5800 ft
