Who We Are
Since 2010 the Central Oregon Avalanche Center (COAC) has worked to empower the Central Oregon backcountry community to make informed decisions by providing avalanche forecasting, observations, and education. COAC is a grassroots organization that has grown from hosting a website collecting  public observations to issuing daily avalanche forecasts for the Central Cascades in the 2022-2023 season. 

Position Overview
The Events and Marketing Coordinator will oversee educational and fundraising events for the Central Oregon Avalanche Center. The Coordinator will work with the board and volunteers to plan and execute events throughout the 2022-2023 winter season.  In addition to events they will also run COAC’s marketing program, including monthly emails, social media presence, and COAC branded merchandise. The Coordinator will also work to grow and engage COAC’s community membership program.

-Lead and coordinate COAC educational and fundraising events. Current events include:  a Know Before You Go monthly education series, Bend Snow and Avalanche Workshop, Verfest Skimo Race, and Freshtracks fundraiser. 
-Engage COAC’s volunteer network to assist in organizing and staffing events.
-Secure event facilities/locations.
Organize ticketing and registration.
-Secure financial sponsorship for each event. 
-Organize tabling by COAC volunteers at local events hosted by others. 

-Use COAC’s customer relationship management (CRM) software to engage members, donors, and sponsors. 
-Grow COAC’s annual community memberships.

-Lead the design, purchase, and sale of COAC branded merchandise.
-Fulfill merchandise orders and membership rewards. 
-Manage COAC’s online store. 

-Manage and strengthen COAC’s social media presence. 
-Oversee COAC’s non-forecast website content.
-Write COAC’s monthly newsletter highlighting news and events pertinent to the COAC community; maintain subscriber list including members and sponsors.
-Respond to public inquires on behalf of COAC.
-Contribute to COAC’s annual report. 

-Ability to work with Board of Directors to complete outlined and assigned tasks without  supervision 
-Strong events planning background with ability to grow COAC’s annual events revenue 
-Experience soliciting event sponsorships
-Experience managing social media accounts and email marketing 
-Non-profit experience preferred
-Four-year college degree preferred 
-Backcountry user preferred
-Avalanche Level 1 certification or above preferred

$20- 25/ hour for ~20 hours per week. Seasonal September- May.
