The Central Oregon Avalanche Center Board of Directors is seeking three to four new board members for the upcoming 2023-2024 (2 year) term. Qualified candidates will be full of enthusiasm and expertise in areas related to the Board's responsibilities (see below for a more detailed list). If you or someone you know might be interested (please forward this email to them), read on and fill out the application by July 15th.

The COAC Board of Directors is composed of six volunteers who serve two-year terms or longer if desired to extend the term. Board members are expected to participate in monthly in-person (or virtual) board meetings, provide counsel and feedback to COAC staff, assist with projects and work that furthers COAC's mission and goals, and participate in events.

Ideal candidates will bring insight, energy, and enthusiasm to the COAC mission, along with representing our broad and diverse winter backcountry community.

Professional experience in the following areas is a benefit to the Avalanche Center: prior board experience, prior non-profit experience, development, community relations, marketing, websites/technology, and event planning.

No formal or professional backcountry experience is required for this role, however, a strong enthusiasm for the outdoors, winter recreation, community involvement and public safety is what makes a successful COAC board member!
