The OPKO O-board went ski touring at our friendly local neighborhood butte, Mt Bachelor on Sunday! The lot was full of enthusiastic adventurous folks skinning, hiking and snowshoeing all over the mtn. It was awesome to see so many people excited to slide on the snow!

The ski quality was moderate, but coverage was measured at 80cm at the base out outback lift. Above tree line a thin breakable rain crust was beginning to develop arund 9:45am, and the overall snow quality was classic heavy PNW mashed potatoes top to bottom. Visibility was per the normal Mt. Bachelor storm day, with goggles and glasses rhyming up instantaneously on the descent making for adventurous route selection. Snow at the start of the tour had turned to a light mist by 10am as temperatures hovered around 32-33f.

We observed a few folk digging snow pits and doing snow assessments. Don't forget to post these obs here on the COAC website! The public obs help the Pro Observers collect data to help with their daily forecasting this winter.

Also, please fill in your pit when you are finished with it! One member of our party had a hot tub time machine experience after failing to navigate around a snow pit half way down leeway.

So great to see everyone out on the hill and high fives all around! Its going to be a great winter playing in the snow.
