Written Report:
I traveled up the NE ridge that separates tree'd northerly slopes with open slopes further east. The north aspects were protected from gusts up to 25 mph that built a ~5 cm wind skin in the flats. Off and on snow showers allowed for a weak, intermittent solar affect initiating tree bombs but no new snow shedding. Ski penetration was about 30 cm of high density (<10% SWE) snow from the previous 24 hrs.
New snow has formed into a cohesive slab, but no shooting cracks or whumpf were observed. Instability tests were performed near the ridge, which (admittedly) received wind scouring.
HS: 140 (measured 160 on a non-wind affected aspect of Hayrick 12/26)
HN: 20 cm
CT11 - 20 cm at the new snow interface, Q3 broken character
CT21 - 40 cm on the lower density snow 5 cm above the Solstice crust, Q3 resistant planar character.
ECTN21 - 20 cm
Aside from wet roller balls, no instability noted while skiing.
