Written Report:
Toured around Kwolh Butte in the afternoon and dug a pit at 7100 Ft on NE aspect and 28 degree slope. Snow depth was 210 cm, and I dug down about 135 cm. The spot I was in didn’t seem nearly as wind affected as the open areas further up the butte. CT results yielded a CT12 Q2/Q3 at 192cm, CT23 Q1 at 175 cm, and CT29 Q1 at 100cm. Even though both Q1 failures were very planar and released quickly in my compression test, I couldn’t get propagation out of any of the layers during an ECT.

Temps were very warm, not sure exactly how high but well above freezing and this was evident in the quality of snow. It was starting to set up and get quite heavy.
