Sky Clear (<1/8)
We skied the NE aspect of Kwohl Butte during the late morning. Windy as always! It had seen some skiing in prior days - tracks filled with wind deposit. Snow conditions were stable, with evidence of significant wind deposit on north and east aspects and warming surface snow temps throughout the day. Slope skied well from top to bottom. There was clearly consolidated wind slab on easterly slopes, no cracking, no sloughing, no evidence of instability during our ski. No ski penetration to the ice layer.
NE aspect, 7,100' elevation, 32 deg slope. partially shaded.
10 cm 1 finger, new snow + wind deposit
1 cm. sugary snow, evidence of colder temps later last week.
~ 25 cm 4 finger snow to ice crust - well bonded at these layers.
ECT 8 @ 10 cm with collapse, but no propagation : this is likely to differ depending on aspect and shade/sun exposure, and I suspect the sugary layer only exists in colder, shaded pockets.
