Written Report:
We drove to the Pole Creek TH and toured into Middle Sister up the Hayden Glacier.

Below treeline the snow surfaces included firm wind board, a thin breakable melt-freeze crust, a thin breakable wind crust, and some wind blown powder. Ski pen ranged from 0-4cm and the touring was fast and pleasant. Winds were calm.

Above treeline we found mostly very firm, smooth, wind board with minor patches of ice that could easily be avoided. The winds were moderate with some strong gusts at the col above the Hayden. I turned around about 500 feet above the col due to some new boot/crampon compatibility issues and my partner continued on and tagged the summit. Skiing on the Hayden was pleasant. Ski pen, not surprisingly, was 0cm.

There were signs of some wind slabs on the east face of Middle, most likely sometime in the past three days during the nuking wind festival - see photo.
