Written Report:
I kicked off a small R1D1 slide in the center of the face between the two rock outcrops. The slide was a wind slab that ran 6”down, 10-20 ft across, and about 200 ft down. The snowpack was upside down with 6” of more dense snow on top of 2”of less dense, dry, light powder, which sat on top of a melt freeze crust. Hand shears were failing on isolation in this region and I observed significant cracking in this zone. I also observed some cracking in the skiers right zone.
