Three Sisters Area
Ski or Snowboard
Dug pits for Avy 1 class today and found some interesting layers. Not a lot of energy, but certainly some instabilities sneaking around in the snowpack right now.
While 175 cm to ground, we dug just over a meter and found some instability primarily around upper melt-freeze layer. The presence of facets around these layers may certainly be a concern.
We dug on southern aspects, which were certainly being influenced by the periodic radiation today. The top layer of fresh lost much of its lightness and began sticking quite well by the end of the day.
