Written Report:
The first day of spring felt quite wintry today! We toured today mostly between 5000-5800ft. We found 3-5 inches of fresh relatively dry snow on top of moist, heavier snow. It snowed or graupled most of the day. Winds were moderate (predominantly from the west) and moving snow to leeward slopes throughout our tour.
Gabe’s forecast for today was spot on where we skied. Fresh cornices along ridge tops were pretty easily stomped off, and we did get some small soft slabs to run below them (small, isolated, and predictable).
A quick pit and compression test showed nothing concerning.
