Skied low-angle slopes on the north face of Potato Hill, from the saddle just west of the false summit to the top of the steeper stretch just before the bottom at 4400ft.
The full north face is firm and wind-textured. Clear evidence of SW winds on the summit and saw wind texture all the way down even far from the ridgeline, suggesting crossloading from W winds.
Snow quality was firm and borderline breakable crust-y.
Winds were surprisingly calm, only really noticeable on the ridgetop. Clouds started low but after noon visibility increased. Saw the sun for about 5 minutes.
Did a quick hand shear at 4400 ft to see how deep the wind slab was and got a clean planar fracture of a clear top layer about 10cm deep. Did not ski the remaining steep stretch past 4400ft due to the texturing observed and the shear result.
