Zone or Region:
Central Cascades
Activity:
Skiing/Snowboarding
Location:
Ball
None reported
Went out to Ball for an evening lap around 5 PM. Zero wind, perfect visibility. Skinning up on E and SE aspects I didn't see any concerning signs. Snow varied from nice pow over a heavier consolidated base, to some windboard, to some spots with a thin breakable crust. Descent on similar aspects was great. Saw tracks on a more NE aspect and nothing notable. Also didn't see any signs of avy activity on BT, though most of it was in the shade at that point. Signs of wind transport in the usual suspects.

I was mid-tour when I heard the news about the Paulina incident. Such terrible news... condolences to friends and family of those involved...
