Headed out to Ball Butte yesterday afternoon. There is pretty much all manner of weird snow out there, but it was all locked up pretty solid. At least we have a decent base! The pic tells the story, but there were some nasty rain crusts in spots all the way up to the top. There was some horribly noisy snow and crappy riding in spots, but surprisingly there was also some decent riding in places where I thought it would suck. Touring up a S aspect on one run I could barely make it up skinning the dusting of snow on top of a solid rain crust, but riding down it was actually pretty decent (if noisy), almost kinda like a hardpack groomer...
