Location:
Little Alaska
Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No
My probe at the top of Little Alaska went down more than 250cm on a west facing slope. 10cm fist soft, 10-40cm four fingers soft, 43cm one finger crust but rounded, 43-60cm four fingers, 60-65cm thick crust easily released on underhand shovel test on the third tap. Medium sized cornices sprinkled throughout ascent to watch out for. A couple shooting cracks on sun exposed high and steep eastern faces from wind loaded snow about four inches deep but snow wanted to stick to itself and not travel far. Definitely not big or consolidated enough to carry a person.
