Observation Date:

Zone or Region:
Central Cascades
Activity:
Skiing/Snowboarding
Location:
Cone Peak
None reported
Went on a tour around the Cone Peak area. Traveled through the east-face open gullies of Iron mountain and did not observe any evidence of instabilities or avalanches.

While skinning up the south ramp of Cone Peak, snow depth decreased in elevation down to less than 30cm. There was no evidence of avalanches observed on the steep N or NW slopes of Cone Peak.

Skied off the south ramp of Cone Peak in spring-like conditions. The biggest concern today was hitting buried rocks and initiating small wet slides (see attached photo).
