Observations
The snowpack in the Broken Top crater was extremely stable and right side up. A snow pit and column test was performed on a western aspect at around 8,110' showing a significant crust at about 60cm down, but unreactive in a column test. Of particular concern was significant surface hoar in the trees at about 6,800'-6,900'. Pressumably this exists in other, similar areas and if burried could result in a problem that needs to be evaluated.Media
